Canterbury


Just over twenty minutes away you will be in the famous city of Canterbury, lovingly known as "The Garden of England'. One of the most famous landmarks we have to mention is, of course, Canterbury Cathedral, a Norman era building steeped in beautiful architecture and charm. Visitors will be thrilled with the plentiful historic attractions Canterbury has on offer. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site which does attract plenty of attention from many visitors worldwide. The cultural nature of the city ensures that art and theatre lovers will not be disappointed. The Marlowe Theatre re-built in 2011 is home to numerous plays and films so keeping a close eye on their' what's on' guide. 


One of the most famous visitor attractions is The Canterbury Tales. A wholly immersive exhibition that uses waxwork creations to bring to life the history of the city and the pilgrims' journey to the Cathedral. Using a clever mix of recorded and live storytelling, visitors will learn and experience so much (even the smells of the medieval times)!

This famous seaside town boasts museums, an art gallery as well as an amusement arcade and historic rides to get the nostalgic vibes flowing from older times. The town has developed a chic coffee culture with many trendy bars and cafes scattered around to tempt your taste buds. There is an excellent selection of fine restaurants and 'good old' fish and chips, so if you stay for the day or overnight, you will certainly not go hungry! 


Margate Museum offers tourists a unique insight into how the town was many years ago and is located in the Old Town of Margate. Experience the artefacts in the exhibition and witness the old Victorian courtroom and police station. 


If you loved your train sets as a child, the Hornby Visitor Centre is a super day out. The exhibition features rare displays, historical facts about Hornby, and additional information about Scalextric, Airfix, and Corgi.
