Description

Lizard Lane Camping & Caravan Site is a popular site on the north east coast of England, close to the seaside town of South Shields. The park is family and pet friendly, welcoming motorhomes and tents to pitches that offer electric hook ups. The site overlooks the sea at the famous Marsden Bay, gently sloping towards the cliff edge.Facilities available at the park include toilets, showers, and washing up facilities. There is no bar or restaurant found at the site, making Lizard Lane Camping & Caravan Site a great place to go for families seeking a real ‘back to basics’ camping experience.Restaurants, bars, cafés, and a selection of shops can all be found in South Shields, which is just ten minutes away in the car or via a local bus service, which runs along the seafront close to the park.A short walk takes guests down onto the beach at Marsden Bay, which is popular with tourists as well as with residents of the north east. The beach is usually accessible and offers plenty of space even when the tide is in, although lifeguards do patrol the beach during the summer and tide times are often displayed. The beach is great for paddling as well as ball games. While swimming, diving, and even surfing can be popular, those heading further into the water are asked to be wary of strong currents.A short distance along the seafront is a fun children’s theme park and amusement arcade, with a wide range of rides and activities. Over the road, another amusement arcade joins onto a popular Laser Quest attraction, while there is also a large park with a pedalo lake and a range of activities. The seafront at South Shields also boasts crazy golf and a selection of other fun parks, while there are also some great pubs and restaurants for when it is time to kick back and relax.Motorhome and camping holidays in the north east wouldn’t be the same without trips into Newcastle and Sunderland. Visit Sunderland for a number of excellent beaches and seafront attractions in its own right, but also for its museums (well worth exploring) and an enjoyable tour of the National Glass Centre.Visit Newcastle, the rival city in the region, which has plenty more for culture loving tourists, with museums showcasing everything from science and world history to the development of the local area. The redeveloped Baltic Art Gallery on the iconic Quayside is also worth visiting for a few hours. Newcastle is also one of the best cities in the north for shopping, with a number of shopping centres and a great high street complex.Further up the coast from the park guests will find pitch and putt golf as well as numerous other incredible beaches, with North Shields and Whitley Bay being popular locations north of the River Tyne. A longer drive will bring guests to Hadrian’s Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which winds through the beautiful Northumbria National Park.Lizard Lane Camping & Caravan Site is the ideal location for quiet seaside holidays in the north east!
