The site benefits from many hundreds of native trees and hedges that have been planted such as rowan, birch, willow and alder. These trees have provided a wind-sheltered area where pink footed, greylag and Canada Geese often nest. Dozens of water plants, including lilies, have been introduced around the lake which provides nesting areas for moorhens, coots and mallards, and creates a spawning ground for toads. There have been many other sightings such as kingfishers, sparrow hawks, woodpecker and also an otter at the waters edge.
