Description

Oaklands Residential Park in Okehampton, as well as being one of the most popular holiday counties of the South, Devon remains hugely popular with people who are looking to move out somewhere between the coast and the countryside.  Oaklands Residential Park is one of the more popular residential communities in the region, close to a number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as several National Parks.  Devon is thriving in terms of culture and heritage, which means residents are right on the doorstep of rolling countryside, historical artefacts and even a handful of city zones.

However, the management at Oaklands Residential Park takes care to ensure that their residents are not disturbed by noise or light which travels from elsewhere in the region.  The park is based in a fantastic spot, which means that homeowners can take advantage of genuine peace and quiet, while still being able to head out to all the usual sights and sounds of the wider county.  It never feels as though the community is too far-removed, which will come as a relief to many people.

An even bigger relief, of course, is that the park is designed with a slower pace of living in mind.  It is perfect for retirees who want to move somewhere serene, and alongside like-minded people.

About Oaklands Residential Park

Oaklands is a long-established park which has seen much development over the years.  Thanks to demand and growing interest, the team here have made sure to continue growing their luxury pitches.  When properties are available at Oaklands, they tend to get a lot of interest in a very short space of time.  It has been undergoing redevelopment again in recent years, as it continues to welcome new residents on a first-come, first-served system.  That means early viewings are always recommended should properties be available.

Oaklands Park is an exclusive community which has been carefully curated with retirees in mind.  In fact, it is open only to residents aged 50 or over, making it a popular neighbourhood for people in the area who are keen to take things a little less frantically.  There is certainly a touch of slower living in the Devon air, which means the park is set up in an ideal location.

The residential neighbourhood offers private, discreet dwellings for solo homeowners as well as couples.  The community benefits from luxury standards as well as superbly maintained grounds and all modern amenities.  Management and maintenance, too, are always happy to help and advise if residents have any concerns.  There is a great feeling of community here, however, residents can still retire to their own private lodges without ever feeling as though they are being intruded on.

The security and safety standards at the park are also top-notch.  As an exclusive park community, residents benefit from stringent security systems as well as a full gate and locked access.  This means that while residents can feel free to leave the park and explore the local area as they wish, only they, and other homeowners, will be able to get back in.  This means it is not open to the public, though residents can welcome visitors as they wish, with prior approval from the park operators.

Oaklands Park is a competitive and much-loved residential community.  Its continued expansion only proves how desired it is.  There is little wonder - as residents benefit from flexible living and lovely gardens all year round.  Many people, too, choose Oaklands Park for its location, and its easy access to many of Devon's finest sights and sounds.

The Location

Oaklands Park is in a wonderful, central location with access to much of Devon's famous sites of interest.  It is based within the vicinity of Okehampton, a pleasant town which has shopping and supermarket facilities, as well as various local pubs and restaurants.  It is the nearest community to the park itself, meaning that homeowners often venture here to buy their groceries and to get involved with local events and galas.

Oaklands Park may feel as though it is far off the beaten track, however, it is very easy to access through main roads and motorways.  Getting to the community is as simple as following the A30 adjacent to Dartmoor National Park.  It is just a few minutes' North of Plymouth City, and you will find it on the road heading West out towards Launceston and Bodmin.

Those who do not drive will be happy to know that there are local public transport links and services near to the park.  If you venture a few miles out of the park down towards Plymouth, you will also be able to find rail links.  The railway here will take up further along the South Coast, as well as further into the North if you wish.

However, many people will prefer to stick with Devon and its unique balance of coast and countryside.  Oaklands Park pivots in a great spot, where residents can gaze across the countryside while still being able to spy the coast from afar.  Homeowners will never be too far from the coast, with resorts in Bude, Bideford, Ilfracombe and Minehead not too far away.

Residents love being able to walk freely around a variety of country trails just outside the main entrance of the park.  There are some lovely woodland areas nearby, too.  It is a great foothold for any retirees who envisage taking on a lot of walking during their free time.  Retirement in Devon is something many people can only dream of.

The Local Area

Oaklands Park is, as mentioned, based within the vicinity of Okehampton, as well as being just a short drive or bus ride from Launceston Tintagel.  Park homeowners keen to sample the local coastline will want to make a beeline for the quaint yet popular Port Isaac, as well as the relaxing sands of Bude.

However, it is the countryside and verdant land surrounding the park which may appeal to residents the most.  Moving to Oaklands Park puts residents firmly in between two of England's most celebrated National Parks.  Oaklands is right at the Northern edge of Dartmoor and is just to the South-West of Exmoor.  These are two of Devon's most popular natural treasures, offering unspoilt greenery and parkland to explore again and again.

The park is also within close distance of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which runs adjacent to Dartmoor.  Visitors can take a look around the country walks here by heading down from Okehampton through Tavistock.

For those residents who prefer their city standards, Exeter is only a few minutes away to the East.  Exeter City is not a typical city in that it is less frantic than many of the metropolises you will find further North, from London upwards.  It is a city with lots of history and heritage behind it.  As, too, is Plymouth, which you will find South-West of the park, right at the edge of the coast.  This beautiful coastal city is well-known for its port heritage, and it sits a few miles around the corner from the famous Roseland Heritage Coast.  Certainly, there is a lot to take in here when it comes to natural and human history alike.

Other popular seaside resorts in Bournemouth and Poole lie out to the East, just beyond Torquay and Weymouth.  Travellers are then just a short distance away from historic towns in Salisbury and Yeovil.  Devon is a county with history and natural beauty in abundance, and it would be a shame not to make the most of the local sites of interest as an Oaklands resident.
