The Mark O’Dwyer interview

Posted by Sell My Group in Insights into the UK Park Industry, March 18, 2022 Mark O'Dwyer from Quickmove Properties

Justin Allitt Interviews Mark O’Dwyer, Sales Director at Quickmove Properties, to discuss the park industry, his role in it, and what he likes to do when not working.

Hi Mark, you’ve been in the park industry a while now – Where did you start and how did it come about?

Having worked in property for many years I joined Quickmove Properties when the company specialised in the retirement sector for several bricks and mortar retirement builders.  When residential park owners began to establish modern developments for the over 45/50’s, it was a natural progression for us to move into that sector and partner with the park owners to offer our services.

What is your favourite activity at Quickmove?

It is all about people, both the park owner and the people that buy on the park.  We can help the park owner to sell quickly and make the move as easy as possible for the buyer.  It is nice being at the centre of the move helping people secure their dream home!

How has Quickmove coped during the last turbulent 24 months?

I was particularly pleased that we managed to continue trading without having to furlough any staff.  That’s not to say it was without it’s challenges, but we have a real team ethos and entrepreneurial spirit at Quickmove that helped us through those turbulent times! A mixture of innovation, such as using virtual ‘Zoom’ viewings and our strong park operator partnerships, meant the last couple of years have been successful.

If you were not in the park industry, what would you do?

I have a real passion for property so I am sure I would be involved with property somewhere!  Away from the industry, I love all sports and am a qualified football and hockey coach. I suppose that may have been another option!

What do you like to do when not working?

I still enjoy all types of sports and these days I follow my three children around the country, watching them play hockey and netball at the national level.

Which clients would you love to help?

It is really satisfying to help park clients grow their business, especially from the early stages of new developments or when launching additional phases on parks.  The expertise of our marketing director Stuart Bell and our area sales managers means that we can fully integrate with parks and provide them with a comprehensive sales and marketing package, so they hit the ground running!

Any words of advice to those just starting out in the industry?

The first one would be “Go for it”  The industry is a great one to work in with real longevity!  Embrace every opportunity and remember every customer you deal with is different and so listen properly to their needs.
